Please keep in mind that the privacy policy is yet incomplete due to the website being in heavy development. We are currently providing it only so websites hosted on our network stay reachable. Please refrain from registering an account unless told otherwise by a Site Administrator.

Who we are

We are a team of freelancers loosely working together. For more information, please check our Legal Disclosure page.

Our website address is: https://nerdgautica.net.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Aside from data for analytics and site statistics, we do not collect any personal data that is not relevant for either the safe and secure operation of this site and our network or legal procedures. If you have any concerns about our privacy policy, please do not hesitate to contact our legal department via tawk.to on the bottom right or via mail to Support@nerdgautica.net. Please note that tawk.to does not track your IP (We have disabled this feature).

Please note that rejecting any non-statistics-related cookies will cause this website to misbehave, sometimes gravely – including, but not limited to the “We are online!” notification from tawk.to growing to be a literal pain in the arse.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We only collect the data you provide in said form. It is detached from any data regarding your session – which also means that you will need to provide adequate details in case you are contacting us for a support case.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We track your current page visits, your geographical location and your anonymized/hashed IP-Address. If you start a support chat, the operator on the other end will be able to see your recent page history and, if necessary, guide you where you need to be. Your history will be retained by Google Analytics.

Who we share your data with

We are using Google Analytics and WordPress.com’s “Jetpack” plugin for site statistics. In addition, tawk.to might be collecting data in order to provide the support chat you can see on the bottom right – view their privacy policy here.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes, which will be retained as long as deemed necessary. However, some of it will lose any link to you – like your anonymized IP-Address for brute-force prevention.

Please do so by contacting our legal team via chat or by writing a mail to Support@nerdgautica.net. Also note that this will delete your account and all associated content, meaning any products or services you paid for on NerdGautica as well as on every other Website on our network. You have been warned – please be fully aware of what “deletion of all personal data” means.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

We will not share your contact information outside our network, and only site admins of Websites on our network you actively login to have access to your contact information aside from the admins at NerdGautica.

Additional information

How we protect your data

Your data is stored in an encrypted form, always, and only accessible for our database server, which is run in an isolated docker container reachable only from our internal network.

What data breach procedures we have in place

Any connection attempts to the database container run through a key verification – explaining the exact procedure would partly compromise this security gate so it is not done here (e.g. publishing the nature of the key). If the connection does not validate, the container completely isolates itself automatically – putting every website in our network offline yet protecting your data from any third party access.

What third parties we receive data from

We do not collect any data from third parties about you aside from the site statistics mentioned above.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

The only automated use of your data happens within our brute force protection – amassed tries to log in with the same IP Address will result in that IP Address being blocked (if this happens to you by mistake/you made A REAL BUNCH of failed login attempts, please contact General Support via chat).
